This work was dedicated to the synthesis of end-functional oligosaccharides to prepare novel bio-based surfactants. Starting from unprotected monosaccharides (mannose and glucose) or oligosaccharides (derived from cellulose), Fischer-glycosylation reaction with propargyl alcohol as glycosyl acceptor was utilized to functionalize the reducing-end of the sugars with an alkyne group.
