RNA uridylation is a post-transcriptional modification of 3' ends of coding and non-coding RNAs. The best known function of uridylation is to stimulate RNA degradation, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are poorly understood. In this work, I investigate the functions of URT1, the main terminal uridylyltransferase (TUTase) that uridylates messenger RNA (mRNA) in Arabidopsis thaliana.
