Olive oil is a vital component of the Mediterranean diet, hence Lebanese, owed to its well-known economic and nutritional value. Several environmental, agricultural, and technological factors play an essential role in defining olive oil's quality. In Lebanon, preliminary studies on the quality of extra virgin olive oil have shown that certain quality criteria exceed the International Olive Council's (IOC) standards.
