Recent scholarly attention has increasingly examined the representation of
 Vietnamese female characters in Western cinema, particularly in relation to
 stereotypical portrayals and the male gaze (Charlot, 1991; Hamilton, 2009; Thi,
 2020). This study explores how Vietnamese female characters are portrayed in
 Western films using multimodal critical discourse analysis, examining visual,
 linguistic, and vocal elements. The research aims to assess the representation of
 these characters through qualitative content analysis, in light of multimodal critical
 discourse analysis, focusing on two films: Full Metal Jacket (1987) and Da 5
 Bloods (2020). The study reveals that while some narrative complexity is present,
 both films largely depict Vietnamese women through a Western male gaze,
 reinforcing traditional stereotypes and limiting their agency. The findings highlight
 the need for more culturally accurate and nuanced portrayals of Vietnamese women
 in Western cinema, emphasizing the importance of diverse representation in media.
