Tóm tắt
Digital transformation has become an inevitable trend in contemporary society. On the one hand, digital transformation paves the way for Vietnam economy and education, particularly higher education to advance in the 4.0 era. On the other hand, it will become a hindrance for development that leaves Vietnam behind unless Vietnam lays strong emphasis on it. Digital transformation goes beyond mere digitalisation and the increased application of ICT into every aspect of life. It also entails enabling breakthroughs in management, governance, and leadership within higher education institutions (HEIs) and transforming teaching and learning through digital platforms. To lead the development of HEIs, leaders and managers at HEIs must expand on vision and inspire teaching staff to nurture a ‘digitalisation culture” that embraces technology and innovation. This article, therefore, focuses on improving governance at HEIs amid digital transformation. Within its scope, the author aims to analyze digital transformation in education, elaborate on the challenges that leaders and managers might face, and propose measures to enhance governance at HEIs in this context.
