Tóm tắt
The research aimed to investigate how to implement project-based learning into interactive classrooms to enhance students’ knowledge and skills at a high school in Thai Nguyen in the first term of academic year 2023 - 2024. The problem was that the students were not able to speak English confidently with both accuracy and fluency although many of them could achieve high scores in written tests. This class action research involved 82 students of classes 10A1 and 10A2 at a Thai Nguyen’s high school and the English teacher as the research collaborator. The researcher used data collection instruments namely evaluative tests, survey questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews. Qualitative and quantitative data were employed to analyse data in this research. The qualitative data were obtained by taking reports of doing projects, interviewing the students of classes 10A1 and 10A2 at the sample high school and the English teacher, holding discussion with the collaborator and taking pictures. The quantitative data were acquired through survey questionnaires with 5-point Likert scale, the paper test and project assessment. The research findings demonstrated the process of implementing PBL in English classrooms to teach speaking for students, answered the question that to what extent the integration of project-based learning influenced students' speaking skills and discovered students’ attitudes towards incorporating project-based learning into English lessons to foster their speaking competencies. This study also provides valuable insights for educators seeking innovative methods to teach speaking and for curriculum designers aiming to integrate experiential learning strategies into high school education
